Ubuntu Studio 17.10 “Artful Aardvark” has reached End-Of-Life (EOL). It is strongly urged that users of 17.10 upgrade to 18.04 in order to receive the latest updates, including security updates. 17.10 will no longer receive any updates.

Ubuntu Studio users can look forward to a new release of Ubuntu Studio 18.10 in October, including new features such as a revamped Ubuntu Studio Controls app that, for the first time for any GUI frontend for the JACK Audio Connection Kit, allows JACK to accept hot-plugged USB Audio Interfaces and MIDI devices without restarting JACK. Additionally, Ubuntu Studio Controls will allow the user to set the CPU governor as needed to increase performance.

There’s also work in progress to replace several key components, so watch this space for updates.
