Getting Help
Please first make sure you have read the release notes of the Ubuntu Studio version you are using, including any known issues, linked above.
Support Methods
USE THIS METHOD FIRST!
Ask Ubuntu is the best way to receive support, and the preferred support method. It is monitored by much of the Ubuntu community, and answers to your questions can be edited in the future. You might even find the answer to your question there! (Remember, Ubuntu Studio is Ubuntu!)
Via Chat
Please note: The real-time nature of chat means it is usually the fastest way to get help, but also that you might have to stick around for a while until someone is able to answer your question (even hours!). Chat is not the preferred support method. Additionally, answers will get lost in time and can’t get easily re-used.
Matrix is a real-time, open-source chat protocol. You can join our support chat here!
About Virtual Machines
Due to the degraded performance that happens in virtual environments, we do not support the use of Ubuntu Studio inside virtual machines in production environments. For instance, low latency audio is simply not possible, and audio will degrade in a virtual machine environment, and video production will be noticeably slower. Other unpredictable caveats are possible as well.
Additional Resources
Linux Musicians is an active forum on topics related to music creation on Linux.
Many of the major software programs have their own resources and communities, such as:
- Ardour Forums
- Blender Manual
- GIMP Tutorials
- Inkscape Forums
- Krita Documentation
- LMMS Forums
- Scribus Wiki
This is not an exhaustive list; these are only examples. A web search might give you the support community you need.
Ubuntu Studio uses KDE Plasma Desktop as its desktop environment, and thus, questions concerning that can be directed at the related communities as well.
